Strengthening of the civil society - Norwegian cooperation with Angola

The strengthening of the civil society is a priority area for the Norwegian cooperation with Angola.  The Norwegian Embassy signed 27. November 2007 a three year contract with Norwegian Peoples Aid of 49.5 mill kronor.  Secretary General Finn Erik Thoresen signed on behalf of NPA and Minister Counsellor Lise Stensrud signed on behalf of Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs/The Norwegian Embassy. The funds will be used to support and strengthen four Angolan organisations: Development Workshop, AJPN, ADRA and Maos Livres. The Norwegian government has cooperated with the four organisation during many years with a focus on good governance, human rights and social and economical development. The purpose of the cooperation is to strengthen the organisations in terms of knowledge, competence, organisational capacities and financial means to engage with society and government.
