The Purpose of the core financial support to CEIC is to contribute to CEIC’s fulfilment of its mission:• fostering public debate on important policy issues through publication of research findings and studies and arranging seminars;
• build national capacity in various areas of public policy formulation and evaluation;
• assist the university in reaching its full research and teaching capacity by promoting research activities of the university staff and by establishing links with other research institutions.
CEIC - UCAN - CMI cooperation

This is a three year programme of cooperation on capacity building and research to be implemented by the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) and the Centro de Estudos e Investigação Científica (CEIC) at the Universidade Católica de Angola (UCAN). The key objective of the programme is to support policy research and build capacity that may contribute to the avoidance of the so called “resource curse” in Angola. The project is based on a number of capacity building and research projects agreed between the institutes which have worked together over more than a year. The total amount of finance agreed is NOK 21,6 million of which NOK 20,6 million is sought from the Norwegian government through the Embassy in Luanda and the NOK 1,0 million from StatoilHydro.

The program promotes human dignity for poor and marginalized people by supporting partners and programmes that contribute to increased participation, equity and protection.
The purposes of the programme are that citizens engage in governance, particularly at local level and within the church, and that churches in Angola have made significant contributions to addressing the HIV and AIDS pandemic in Angola. Another purpose is that NCA partners through the support acquire the organisational and institutional capacity needed to be effective change agents for social and economic justice in Angola.

Strategic Partnership on Support to Civil Society in Angola

The goal of the program is to support civil society organisations to promote democratic governance and rights based social and economic development. The Embassy support the four Angolan non-governmental organisations ADRA, Development Workshop, Mãos Livres and AJPD, through this strategic partnership. The purpose is to strengthen the knowledge, competence, organisational capacities and financial means of the civil society organisations in order to engage with society and government.

ADPP (Ajuda de Desenvolvimento de Povo para Povo)
Gender and Environment Action Programme in Teacher Training

The goal of ADPP’s Gender, equality and environment programme for teacher training colleges is to contribute to increased access to education for girls. The purpose is to increase the participation of women in the teacher training colleges to 50%, and to promote a girl friendly environment in the communities surrounding the schools and in society as such.
The programme also aims to ensure increased focus on environmental issues by bringing new knowledge and practice into the training of teachers and their role for change in the communities.
